If your activist group is planning an event and would like me to record it in a video, send the details of the event to me at ronzig@rogers.com I will post the video on my website and allow you to distribute it widely and I will submit a short version to various news media for their publication. Because of time constraints I am not able to comply with every request. To ensure that your event is covered, please consider these guidelines. Please describe your event including why you think it should be recorded i.e. social significance, what activities will be involved that will make the video visually interesting to the audience, is the event easily accessible by TTC, (if not, will transportation be provided?), who will act as spokesperson to be interviewed? Be sure to include the date and start and end time of the event.

Drop the Rates

On November 5, 2009, students across Ontario left their classrooms and hit the streets in a province wide rally and march to demand that the government and Premiere Dalton McGuilty reduce or eliminate tuitions for all Ontarians and to demonstrate their solidarity with social activists in their demand for a more equitable society where the poorest people in our province are no longer forced into homelessness because of low incomes and outrageous rental rates.

I attended the event as it developed in Toronto where students from the University of Toronto, Ryerson University, George Brown College and several other schools joined forces with the Ontario Coalition against Poverty and other activist groups to march on Queens Park to demonstrate that we the people are united and will no longer accept government inaction on these crucial social issues.

On Sept 7/09, The Recession Relief Coalition was the official non profit organization designated to receive donations at the Labour Day parade. The Recession Relief Coalition would like to take this opportunity to thank the organizers, the audience and the participants of the Labour Day Parade for their kind support. Their generosity will enable us to continue our advocacy efforts to convince all levels of government that strong measures must be taken NOW to relieve the suffering that Canadians are enduring as a result of this recession. Thank you all.
